Project A: Translating Nutrition Information for Immigrants in the United States

Peritus has a long-term working relationship with one of the state offices of the Department of Public Health. This brief summary will focus on a multilingual project, the translation of nutrition cards for infants and babies from English to Brazilian and Continental Portuguese, French, Russian, Traditional Chinese, and Vietnamese.

Goal: The nutrition cards were meant as an educational element in U.S. immigrants’ integration process. The Peritus Team was asked to take into account that many of the immigrants from some of the countries mentioned above have low education and literacy levels. In addition to these factors, the translations still had to be accurate.
