Project B: Translating and Localizing a Commercial Website

In the summer of 2001, one of our long-term clients, a Bay Area based advertising agency, contacted us regarding the translation of some website material from English into German.

Goal: The client needed Peritus’ help in translating and localizing the main part of an official German website for a high-profile movie. The website contained factual information about the movie, the director, the actors etc. It also had a large section that explained the history of the concept that formed the basis of the manuscript as well as a list and description of previous movies about the subject. A tight deadline was also an issue for this project: The in-country website had to be ready before the movie premiered in Germany.

Allocation and Methodologies

Prior to allocating the translation, the Peritus project manager had a long discussion with our client regarding target market and expectations.

Results

Two days after delivery of the assignment, the Peritus project manager contacted our client to follow up and discuss the project. They were already in the process of implementing the translation into the German website. Our client was very pleased with the way the Peritus Team had handled the project, producing a precise and idiomatically correct translation under time pressure.
